Another loss, this one confirming what we knew was almost inevitable: relegation. A spirited performance along with a stunning goal was unable to get the points we needed to have a chance of survival. A 2-1 loss to the side managed by Henning Berg was the final score, with three games still to go in the season.

 

Not many teams expect to get any points from a trip to Trondheim, but that doesn't mean you can't be disappointed by the result. A few goals were surrounded by controversy, with the referee again in the spotlight. The score at the final whistle was 4-1 to the home side, with the last two goals being scored after the result was inevitable.

After waiting for almost a whole season for the first home win, Lyn destroyed a poor Start side with a fantastic display of attacking football, combined with solid defensive play, the final score 4-1. If this kind of football had been played from the beginning of 2009, the side would be challenging for the title, but now, all it can do is ignite a spark of hope that Lyn can keep their place in the top division of Norwegian football.

Many people, especially those in England, were expecting Liverpool to destroy Lyn today, in the friendly match at Bislett Stadium. That was not the case, as Lyn’s young side fought a very hard battle but were just beaten 2-0 by the strong travelling Liverpool side.

 

2-2 and we are still looking for the first home win of the season. However, there were some great signs of improvement in Monday’s game, as some of the football played was top quality. However, mistakes at the back, mainly with the goalkeeper, let Brann back into the match twice and allowed them to share the points with the home team.

Collapse. Downfall. Capitulation. Breakdown. These four words are all very apt for the description of the Lyn performance today. The ninth defeat of the season was perhaps the worst. The season is fast approaching the point of no return, with no signs of any recovery any time soon, the remaining 11 games are do or die.

Lyn are out of the cup after losing 1-0 to Brann in the fourth round. A weakened team was playing, to make sure the team is fit and ready for the relegation battle at the weekend. It was a closely fought contest with Brann having the better chances but unfortunately emotions took over at the end with both Elmar Bjarnason and Kent Bergersen being sent off.
